چکیده

INTRODUCTION Mechanotransductive signals through fluid flow stimulation, e.g., intramedullary pressure (ImP), have been shown effective in bone adaptation. ImP distribution is suggested to influence the mechanotransductory signals within bones. Suggested by the muscle pump theory, muscle compressions may increase vessel pressure gradient that can directly increase ImP. To further elucidate the bone-muscle relationship aided by mechanical loading, the aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the effects of oscillatory electrical muscle stimulation (MS) and dynamic hydraulic flow stimulation (DHS) on musculoskeletal adaptation in a rat functional disuse model.

Intramedullary Pressure Induced by Dynamic Hydraulic Stimulation and its Potential in Attenuation of Bone Loss

INTRODUCTION: Bone fluid flow has been demonstrated as a critical regulator in mechanotransductive signaling and bone adaptation. Intramedullary pressure (ImP) is suggested to initiate bone fluid flow and influence the osteogenic signals within bone. The potential ImP-induced bone fluid flow then triggers the remodeling process in the skeleton . It has been demonstrated that ImP generated by os...

Comparison of morphological changes of muscle fibers in response to dynamic electrical muscle contraction and dynamic hydraulic stimulation in a rat hindlimb disuse model.

This study attempted to compare the muscle fiber morphological responses to dynamic electrical muscle stimulation (DEMS) and dynamic hydraulic stimulation (DHS) in rats under hindlimb suspension (HLS). DEMS at 1 Hz, 50 Hz and 100 Hz for 10 min/day, 5 days/week were introduced to the animals' right quadriceps. Static and 2 Hz DHS were introduced to the right tibiae of other animal groups on a "1...

Dynamic skeletal muscle stimulation and its potential in bone adaptation.

To identify mechanotransductive signals for combating musculoskeletal deterioration, it is essential to determine the components and mechanisms critical to the anabolic processes of musculoskeletal tissues. It is hypothesized that the interaction between bone and muscle may depend on fluid exchange in these tissues by mechanical loading. It has been shown that intramedullary pressure (ImP) and ...

Effects of Dynamic Hydraulic Stimulation on Local and Distant Intramedullary Pressure and Bone Strain

INTRODUCTION: Osteoporosis gives rise to fragile bones that have higher fracture risks due to diminished bone mass and altered bone microarchitecture . Mechanical loading mediated bone adaptation has demonstrated promising potentials as a non-pharmacological alteration for both osteogenic response and attenuation of osteopenia . Intramedullary pressure (ImP) has been proposed as a key factor fo...

Effect of Matricaria chamomilla extract on the electrically stimulation of ileum of guinea-pig in invitro model

Previous studies indicate that Matricaria chamomilla (MC), a folk remedy plant, is very useful in the treatment of spasmogenic bowel diseases but the way of its action is not clear. For this purpose, we studied the effect of MC extract on the electrically activation in Guinea-Pig ileum in an invitro model. We used guinea pig in this study. After of kill, we brouhght out a piece of ileum and fix...
